A FEW WORDS ABOUT ARTIFICIAL CONTRACEPTION,

taken directly from the Encyclical “CASTI CONNUBII” written by Pope Pius XI in 1930.
The following excerpts from that encyclical (the paragraphs that are indented and are in quotation marks) are the unchangeable teaching of Almighty God.
They are binding on all human beings, not simply on Catholics.
Think about these words whenever you pass by a display of condoms in Wal-Mart or Rite-Aid or CVS or wherever you go to buy your aspirin and vitamins and cold remedies and whatever.
Think about these words whenever you pass by a prescription counter and realize that a great part of their business is the providing of contraceptive pills, all of which are capable of inducing early-stage abortion — just in case the woman takes them “too late” to prevent conception.
Think about these words especially now when you realize that, with the dawning of the new year (2013), the Obama administration’s health care mandate has gone into effect, requiring all employers to include contraceptives in their health-insurance plans.

ARTIFICIAL CONTRACEPTION IS “SHAMEFUL AND INTRINSICALLY VICIOUS”.
“But no reason, however grave, may be put forward by which anything intrinsically against nature may become conformable to nature and morally good. Since, therefore, the conjugal act is destined primarily by nature for the begetting of children, those who, in exercising it, deliberately frustrate its natural power and purpose, sin against nature and commit a deed which is shameful and intrinsically vicious.”

GOD DETESTS ARTIFICIAL CONTRACEPTION AND JUDGES IT TO BE A “HORRIBLE CRIME”
“Small wonder, therefore, if Holy Writ bears witness that the Divine Majesty regards with greatest detestation this horrible crime and at times has punished it with death. As St. Augustine notes, "Intercourse even with one's legitimate wife is unlawful and wicked where the conception of the offspring is prevented. Onan, the son of Juda, did this and the Lord killed him for it."

ARTIFICIAL CONTRACEPTION IS AN OFFENSE AGAINST THE LAW OF GOD AND OF NATURE AND THOSE WHO PRACTICE IT ARE COMMITTING GRAVE SIN.
“Since, therefore, openly departing from the uninterrupted Christian tradition some recently have judged it possible solemnly to declare another doctrine regarding this question, the Catholic Church, to whom God has entrusted the defense of the integrity and purity of morals, standing erect in the midst of the moral ruin which surrounds her, in order that she may preserve the chastity of the nuptial union from being defiled by this foul stain, raises her voice in token of her divine ambassadorship and through Our mouth proclaims anew: any use whatsoever of matrimony exercised in such a way that the act is deliberately frustrated in its natural power to generate life is an offense against the law of God and of nature, and those who indulge in such are branded with the guilt of a grave sin.”

A FEW THOUGHTS THAT OCCUR TO ME AFTER READING THESE WORDS
The Catholic Church is either the One True Church established by God for the salvation of the human race or else She is an assembly of the blind leading the blind. If a person were to believe that She is the latter, I can’t imagine why he (she) would continue to remain within Her. If a person were to believe that She is the former, I can’t imagine why he (she) would not obey Her. (You may be certain that yours truly believes without reservation that She is the former.)
If you are currently practicing artificial contraception — whether pill or condom or some other device — I beg you in the Name of God to CEASE AND DESIST. Your salvation is at stake. You cannot plead ignorance. Then go immediately to Confession. Do not receive Holy Communion if you practice artificial contraception! That would be a sacrilege.
If you used to practice artificial contraception but no longer do so (perhaps because you are beyond the age of generating or conceiving children), please do not content yourself with saying, “Well, I just won’t do it anymore.” Please make sure that you go to Confession and confess it, even if it has been many years since you practiced artificial contraception. Do not receive Holy Communion unless you go to Confession. The sin of artificial contraception must be absolved in the Sacrament of Penance. No priest in his right mind — I submit to you that that includes the pastor of the two parishes in Girardville — would be unkind to anyone who confesses artificial contraception. On the contrary, the priest will be gracious and forgiving — as God wants him to be. Please do not play Russian roulette with your salvation! Go to Confession. Tell your sins. Say your Act of Contrition. Accept the absolution and the symbolic penance. And then, be done with it forevermore!

HERE IS A TRUE STORY THAT MIGHT MAKE SOME INTERESTING AND PROVOCATIVE KITCHEN-TABLE CONVERSATION WITH SOME OF YOUR PRO-CHOICE RELATIVES OR FRIENDS!

A news report comes from Australia about a certain married couple who are the parents of three boys — all single births. After having conceived and given birth to three healthy boys, the woman and her husband were hoping that “the next one” would be a girl.
That’s understandable. Most couples, given a choice, would prefer “one of each” or “some of each”.
They were delighted when it turned out that pregnancy #4 was a girl.
So far, so good!
The woman gave birth to a girl but, sadly, the child died soon after birth.
The parents were devastated — and that’s quite understandable. I would be devastated too if one of my children died.
So, they tried again.
The woman succeeded in becoming pregnant once again.
This was her fifth pregnancy.
After a while, she went to her obstetrician to check on the gender of the child in utero.
She found out that she was carrying TWINS!
Not only twins, but BOY twins!
Oh, drat the luck!
She and her husband were quite upset.
They REALLY wanted a girl.
So, what did they do?

Being PRO-CHOICE,
they exercised their
FREEDOM OF CHOICE!
They aborted the twin boys!

They explained that, although they love the three sons they have, they “just couldn’t keep on indefinitely having babies” in the hope of getting a girl — in addition to which, it was a matter of “maternal health”. The woman claimed that her mental health would be adversely affected if she kept on having boys and didn’t have at least one healthy girl!
SARCASM ALERT!!! — Gee, that really grabs my heart! Does it grab your heart too? Perish the thought that this woman’s mental health would be adversely affected! — ALL CLEAR! END OF SARCASM!
So, now, rather than “taking their chances” with old-fashioned marital intercourse, they plan to try for a girl via IVF (in vitro fertilization). IVF is a way of combining sperm and ova in a petri dish in order to produce multiple embryonic human persons. Then you check out the specs on the babies you have made in the dish and decide which one(s) you want to plant in your uterus. And then you hope for the best.
Of course, the procedure necessarily involves the aborting of the multiple embryonic human beings who don’t make the cut, but that’s the way it goes! Law of the jungle! Survival of the fittest!
Keep in mind: Once you say that a woman has FREEDOM OF CHOICE in regard to abortion, there is really no logical way you can take it back or qualify it. Either you DO have FREEDOM OF CHOICE or you DON’T have FREEDOM OF CHOICE. You can’t cherry-pick who does and who does not.
If you say that a woman DOES have FREEDOM OF CHOICE in regard to abortion, you have no ground on which to stand in saying that the woman mentioned above did not have FREEDOM OF CHOICE to abort those twin boys! If you say otherwise, then you are entering into judgment on her motives — and we all know that we’re not supposed to judge another person’s motives!
When that woman and her husband go before God for judgment, those twin sons of theirs will step out of the shadows and accuse them before God of bloody murder — unless, beforehand, they repent in dust and ashes.

WE SHARE THE MAIL
The following letter showed up in the mail on 04 January. It was unsigned.
Father Connolly:
Will you be rooting for Our Lady’s team on Monday Night?
Can we pray to Notre Dame for the Notre Dame football team to win?
Good luck.
God bless and Go Irish.
Win the National Championship.
(Anonymous)
Dear Anonymous:

In answer to your first question: Yes, I will.
In answer to your second question: Yes, you can. Not only “can”, but “may”.
And I presume you will.
However, I’m fairly certain that Notre Dame (the Mother of Jesus) doesn’t really care whether Notre Dame (the football team) wins or loses. I doubt that football is even on her radar.
I suggest that you pray, instead, to Saint Joseph.
He and his Divine Lad are having Joachim, Zechariah and John the Baptist over to the House tonight to watch the game. (Of course, Jesus already knows the outcome, but He promises not to tell the others in advance.)
While the boys are having their fun, Our Lady will be at her Mom’s house (that’s St. Anne, as you know). Cousin Elizabeth will be there for tea and Christmas cookies.
That, at least, is what I have been told.
EBC
PS — I advise you not to bet your baby’s milk money on Notre Dame. I’m sure you know the odds are Crimson Tide by nine
.

Never trust an atom!
Why not?
Because atoms make up everything!
